File Open Failure: Active X component cannot create object
Details:
When importing a CAD file into Visual this error message is displayed. This error message refers to missing DLL files required to import or export a CAD file. These DLL files were not installed during installation of the software
Solution:
- Completely uninstall Visual through the Add or Remove programs of the Control Panel in Windows.
- Download the latest release of Visual from www.visual-3D.com and save to your Windows Desktop.
- Before installing Visual, close all other programs and temporarily turn off any virus scanners/blockers on your computer.
- Run the Visual setup save on your Winodws Desktop by double clicking the icon.
If the error still occurs then perform the instructions below:
The DLL files for importing/exporting AutoCAD files will need to be manually registered. The path to the DLL files is C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\DWGdirectX 3.2
The files that should be registered are OdaX_3.02_9.dll, DWGdirectX_3.02_9.dll, DWFToolkit.dll
How to register dll files:
- Right click on one of the dll files.
- Select Open With
- Under the Recommended Programs section look for Microsoft© Register Server. If you see it, click on it and click OK to register the file. If not, click the Browse button.
- Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvr32.exe When you click on regsvr32.exe, Open
- Microsoft© Register Server should now appear in the Recommended Programs section. You also want to check the checkbox for ‘Always use the selected program to open this kind of file’.
- Then OK
If you still receive the error perform these addtional steps:
Click on the following link to open the zip file. Save the DDX3.2.0.msi file to the desktop. Double click on it to run. When done, try launching the Visual program and importing a CAD file.
